Complete waste of money

My god can’t believe what I have just read from Mr Jones of York ! What an absolute load of hype and garbage he has written. We have just been on the same cruise as him and recognise him from his written comments he spoke in the same monotone way he writes. We could go on but won’t just to say that the cruise was the worst we had ever been on and would never travel on the Allegra again and probably not Costa full stop.

The food was absolutely appalling often cold and over cooked. The table service no better that the food, they in fact complimented one another. The air-conditioning worked so intermittently it was useless. Somebody else in one of the reports states that the water was ORANGE indeed it was – that’s why after a shower all on board ship had the same fake orange tan even the white towels after drying yourselves were covered in orange residue. The ship was dirty and the swimming pool, splash pool and Jacuzzis were all in a poor state of repair. Drinks extortionately expensive Mr Jones and his magic discount card try buying a beer, whiskey or gin and then see the price tag there wasn’t much change out of £7.00 each, a barging I think not.

After reading his mammoth report on the ship don’t you wonder what on earth he was there for he goes on about the ship been this and that, the splendour of it all and answering all the complaints other guess have complained about I over that past months in a positive and contradictory manor. If someone had previously said the air-conditioning was poor of the seas were rough he has said the opposite.

The truth is we were unlucky enough to find something out about Mr Jones whilst on board – yes you have guessed it he works for the company and was there to write a report to boost the ships sagging reviews. Shocking Costa how low can sink (sorry for the pun)!

Now you know why you felt isolated at the dining table and felt the need to change – sad man ! Next time, try mingling with the guests and don’t act like a boring stereotypical reporter and you might get away with your undercover tourist scam.

I’m not one usually to write a letter but this time I have had to the man was a parasite.

Regards,

Sue Jacobs, Surrey

Puzzled about your comments about Mr. Jones' comments as from the dates it seemed you travelled in March while he and we were on the Costa Allegra in June and sure from your comments you did not return so great progress was made in the three months.

Having been on the same cruise I can't fully agree with the comments from Sue Jacobs. I thought the food was very good overall, food is never served hot enough abroad how we like it. The staff were very good on the whole especially the waiters. I agree whole heartedly about the entertainment, shore excursions and on board facilities. I also think the price of drinks and gratuities were astronomical. Pam Horsley Hartlepool

Hi Sue. I don't normally follow reviews of this cruise line but could not help noticing your headline, and anything with one star or less has to be of interest. Well done for your expose of Mr Jones aka WALTER MITTY. I have posted a comment as such to his review. I probably believe that he has mis-read the offer by cruise.com, and thought he would receive a Berlitz Guide for EVERY 200 words. He obviously has an ambition to paper his bedroom with cruise ship reviews. I'd also ignore Elf Glen's remarks. May the Cruise be with you. Richard

I have been on a few cruises now and believe you me there is no pleasing some people - they do just moan for the sake of it. In fact, some people must go to bed wondering what they can moan about next. I have yet to travel with Costa but I am going to think positive and am determined to enjoy myself. For the itinerary I think the price of the cruise is excellent value for money and if the drinks are more expensive so be it. THERE IS NO PLEASING SOME PEOPLE!

I am not quite sure if this is a review of the cruise that Sue Jacobs took, or of the strange Mr Jones? Having just read his "review", I find it hard to believe how anybody could think that Costa would be stupid enough even to employ someone in such an obvious dream world as Mr Jones appears to be, let alone allow him to publish such an obvious work of fantasy on their behalf. His review obviously comes in the form of a diary, and is much too long winded and personalised to be worthy of any serious consideration. There are enough fair and honest reviews of both this ship and its itinerary posted on this site for any level headed person to come to a reasonable opinion about this cruise. I think this one, together with Mr Jones review, must surely represent either end of the spectrum. Happy cruising.
