Costa Deliziosa Under Construction

Construction of Costa’s brand new cruise liner; Costa Deliziosa is continuing at Fincantieri’s Marghera shipyard in Venice. In the past month the keel of the new ship has been laid – which includes the first section. Deliziosa will be the fifteenth member of the Costa fleet, due to come into service in spring 2010.

Costa currently has three new ships being built in the Fincantieri shipyards; Deliziosa, Luminosa and Costa Pacifica. Both of the latter ships will be delivered in spring 2009. Costa Cruises has a fleet expansion programme which includes the introduction of five brand new cruise ships by 2012 – all built in Italy by Fincantieri. The total investment of this programme is 2.4 billion euros. When all ships are complete, the fleet will have seventeen ships – a 50% increase from present guest capacity.
