Q: Costa Concordia
Western Mediterranean

Can anyone elaborate exactly what's going on regarding bringing your own aboard. We're wine drinkers, and don't plan on getting totally ripped off if at all possible. We heard about an X package. Is it limited or unlimited? Any idea per the cost per person? On past cruises, we just bought what we wanted, and dropped it in our room with no problem. Thanks for any responses.

Thanks Blythe Since we like the red wine and occasional beer, having a couple bottles on hand in our cabin is great. I'm presuming that it should be easily accessable to buy at the ports, or nearby. The X1 sounds like a fair deal, but probabally not needed as long as we can stay stocked. Thanks for your comment, and am open to any others as well as experience on this Easterm Med cruise.

With regard to buying drink at the ports, it is strictly forbidden to store it in your cabin. There is a facility whereby it can be stored by the crew and handed to you when you disembark. They use the excuse that is the curse of modern times. HEALTH and SAFETY !!!!!!!

The X1 drinks package covers wine (red, white and rose), beer, bottled water and soft drinks, and is only available during the opening times of the buffet and dining restaurants during lunch and dinner. Cost is Euro 11 per person per day. Some report it cannot be bought via internet but by contacting Coata direct or via your travel agent. Not sure if this is what you are seeking, not aware you can't bring on board 2 bottles of wine to drink in your cabin anytime during the cruise but others will perhaps comment further.
