Q:
We are sailing on Costa Allegra to China at the end of next week (21 June). Can anyone please advise how many formal nights there are on this particular cruise. We have not seen a brochure for Costa and booked the cruise through fast track (now Virgin Cruises). The information booklet which has been provided makes no mention of formal nights. We did ring Costa and they said "on a cruise of this length usually 4 or 5 formal nights". Can anyone confirm if this is the case? Also is the dress code adhered to?

Hi we wewre on the Allegra in May this year they have three formal nights which were very enjoyable. We had the early sitting 6.30 which suited us as by the time everyone had chosen and eaten their meal it was about 8.30pm when we left the restaurant the later sitting 8.45 pm means you dont leave the restaurant untill about 10.30pm so we felt it was too late. This of course is down to personal choiceThe ship was lovely the ents team did very well considering they had to cater for different nationalities. The itinery superb .

We had three formal nights; all very enjoyable. If your experience s anything like ours you will have regular visits by the Captain, Head chef and others to make sure you are happy!
The so-called theatre is small and you will need to get there early to secure a good view. we had a great time on this "old" ship and like most, we were there for the itinerary rather than exotic luxury! Have a great trip.

thx Hugh - - this is actually for my parents so your comments really help - they are in their 80's and have been a little worried about this cruise which has been booked for their 60th wedding anniversary!
